Poetry & Literature — a scarce signed limited first edition of Hard Not to Be King by Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet Robert Frost. Published in New York by House of Books, Ltd. in 1951, this first edition was limited to only 300 numbered copies signed by Frost. This is copy number 73, bearing Robert Frost’s handwritten signature on the limitation page. Presented in blue cloth with gilt cover lettering and printed in red and black on cream paper, this slender volume contains Frost’s extended dramatic poem exploring kingship, individual freedom, authority, discipline, and the nature of verse. Hardcover is structurally sound with clean, secure pages. The blue cloth shows considerable age-related sun fading and discoloration, especially around the spine and board edges, along with scattered surface marks and ordinary shelf wear. A previously penciled ownership notation on the front endpaper appears to have been erased, leaving faint traces. No dust jacket is present. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition and appearance of this exceptionally limited signed Robert Frost first edition. Bookends shown are not included.
