JG 26: Top Guns of the Luftwaffe
By Donald L. Caldwell
Foreword by Adolf Galland
A notable multi-signed copy featuring a gathering of Second World War aviation signatures across its preliminary pages. The combination includes signatures attributed to Japanese aviator Saburo Sakai and several Luftwaffe fighter pilots, giving this individual copy appeal beyond the book’s subject alone.
NINE IDENTIFIED SIGNERS
The following names have been identified through readable handwriting and, where needed, visual comparison with published signature examples:
• Saburo Sakai
• Johannes Steinhoff
• Walter Krupinski
• Walter Schuck
• Heinz Lange
• Wolfgang Falck
• Gerhard Schöpfel
• Walter Loos
• Heinz Marquardt
Additional signatures are shown in the photographs. These have not all been conclusively identified and are not included in the nine-name roster above. Nine refers to identified individuals, rather than a claimed total number of signatures.
Caldwell’s history examines Jagdgeschwader 26, the German fighter wing closely associated with the air war over Western Europe. This copy brings together that historical subject and a substantial collection of aviation autographs in one volume.
The photographed signatures appear in blue, black, and red ink. The signed pages show light age toning and occasional small spots. Please examine all photographs closely for the book’s overall condition, individual signatures, and any visible wear. The exact copy pictured is offered.
The signer attributions are based on visual examination and comparison; no independent third-party authentication or documented signing-event provenance is claimed.
