Fighter Aces of the Luftwaffe

By Col. Raymond F. Toliver and Trevor J. Constable

Foreword by Adolf Galland

Schiffer Publishing, 1996

ISBN: 0-88740-909-1

Illustrated hardcover with original dust jacket, burgundy boards, decorative marbled endpapers, and a nine-signature Luftwaffe bookplate mounted on the front free endpaper.

The bookplate is the distinguishing feature of this copy. The signatures are attributed to the following Luftwaffe veterans, listed in their order from top to bottom:

• Hubert Heckmann

• Kurt Schulze

• Hans-Joachim “Hajo” Herrmann

• Hans Busch

• Walter Boener

• Horst Petzschler

• Walter Schuck

• Ernst Scheufele

• Wolfgang Späte

An accompanying handwritten identification note is included. The signatures are on the separate bookplate rather than directly on the book’s printed pages. Please examine the detailed photographs of the signatures; no independent authentication documentation is shown.

An extensively illustrated account of Germany’s WWII fighter pilots, featuring period photographs, combat narratives, aircraft, and operational history. Coverage includes Adolf Galland, Johannes Steinhoff, Hans-Joachim Marseille, Günther Rall, Wolfgang Falck, Eastern and Western Front operations, night fighters, and the emergence of jet combat. Appendices cover decorations, fighter and night-fighter aces, jet aces, and pilots assigned to JV 44.

CONDITION: Very Good overall, with light handling and shelf wear to the hardcover and dust jacket, including minor edge and corner wear. The photographed interior pages appear clean, with no obvious annotations or tears. The signature bookplate has visible creasing and light wrinkling, particularly across its lower portion. The accompanying handwritten note also has folds and handling wear.

An appealing copy for collectors of WWII aviation history, Luftwaffe memoirs, and veteran autographs. Please review all photographs for the exact book, bookplate, and condition.
