The Human Figure in Motion by Eadweard Muybridge is a photographic study of human movement, presenting sequential images that reveal changes in posture, balance, and muscular action. It offers a detailed visual reference for artists, illustrators, animators, and readers interested in the history of photography.

Published by Dover Publications, this hardcover retains its colorful pictorial dust jacket. The publisher describes the collection as 196 plates containing more than 4,700 individual photographs, selected from Muybridge’s Animal Locomotion of 1887. The sequences document movement in successive stages, making subtle shifts in the human figure visible for close study. Includes an introduction by Robert Taft.

The copyright page states 1955; this copy is a later printing of the Dover edition, with its exact printing year unstated. ISBN: 0486202046.

Very Good book in a Good dust jacket. Dark cloth boards show light shelf wear, with minor rubbing at the extremities. The photographed pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket retains strong color, with edge wear, small tears and chips, and a more noticeable area of loss at the upper rear corner. The original $24.95 jacket price remains unclipped.
