Sailing / Boat Maintenance / Maritime Reference
Shipshape: The Art of Sailboat Maintenance by Ferenc Máté is a detailed, practical guide to maintaining and repairing sailboats. Across 46 chapters, Máté covers launching, rigging, sail care, steering systems, varnishing and painting, bilge pumps, onboard equipment, and the inspection and repair of wood and fiberglass hulls.
Drawing upon the author’s boatbuilding and sailing experience, the book includes hundreds of photographs and illustrations by Candace Máté. A useful vintage reference for sailors, yacht owners, boatbuilders, restorers, and maritime enthusiasts.
This is the first printing of the first edition, published in 1985 by Albatross Publishing House. Hardcover with original dust jacket. ISBN 0-688-04702-5.
The book itself remains clean overall, with attractive blue cloth boards and clean, readable interior pages. The front binding/hinge is moderately weakened and beginning to separate, although the text block remains attached. The dust jacket is in poor condition with substantial tearing, creasing, edge wear, and sections of paper loss, particularly across the upper rear portion. The jacket is included for originality. Please review all photographs for the exact condition.
