Early Aviation History & Engineering
A scarce 1910 first edition of Les Aéroplanes de 1910 by Raymond de Gaston, published in Paris by Librairie Aéronautique. Written in French, this technical work documents the extraordinary development of powered flight at the very beginning of the aviation era.
The book contains photographs, dimensioned technical plans, specifications, engine information, and structural details for pioneering aircraft, including the Antoinette, Blériot IX, XI and XII, Santos-Dumont, Henri and Maurice Farman, REP, Voisin, and Wright machines. It includes a preface by Jules Armengaud Jeune, a specialized study of propellers by aviation pioneer Victor Tatin, and multiple folding comparison tables.
This copy has been professionally rebound in rich red quarter leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The original illustrated front and rear wrappers have been preserved inside the binding.
Condition is very good for its age. The binding remains attractive and secure, with minor rubbing at the corners and light fading to the spine. The preserved original wrappers show expected toning and light discoloration. Interior pages are remarkably clean overall, and the illustrated plates, technical drawings, and folding tables remain present. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition and contents.
A particularly desirable artifact from the formative years of aviation, well suited to an advanced aviation, engineering, transportation, or early-technology collection.
