Published in the Philippines by Bookmark, Inc. Both books carry 1996 copyrights and retain their striking matching dust jackets. This acclaimed translation of El Filibusterismo received the 1996 National Book Award for Translation.
Noli Me Tangere follows Crisóstomo Ibarra’s return to the Philippines and exposes the political, religious, and social abuses of Spanish colonial rule. El Filibusterismo continues the story with a darker examination of resistance, vengeance, and revolutionary change. Together, these novels helped shape Filipino national consciousness and remain central works of Philippine literature.
Hardcovers are solid and attractive with bright gilt and orange cover lettering. Pages are clean and readily readable overall. Noli Me Tangere contains a handwritten gift inscription dated 2004 on the front endpaper, as pictured.
