Atomic Energy Ground School Course Supplement No. 4 Second Air Force 1948

$250.00
Atomic Age, early U.S. Air Force, and nuclear-weapons history. Prepared by the A-3 Training Branch at Headquarters Second Air Force on February 2, 1948, this scarce Ground School Course Supplement was designed to give military students an understanding of nuclear physics and the scientific discoveries that led to atomic fission and its development into the atomic bomb.

Created only months after the U.S. Air Force became an independent military service—and less than three years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki—the manual reflects how rapidly atomic science was being incorporated into postwar military education and national-defense planning.

The seven-lecture course covers energy and matter, laboratory experiments in radioactivity, electricity and atomic particles, chemical and nuclear reactions, plutonium versus uranium, and the applications and limitations of nuclear energy. Numerous instructional charts, equations, diagrams, tables, and illustrations are included.

Original February 1948 staple-bound military course supplement. Covers show age toning, rubbing, staining, creasing, edge wear, small punctures, and handling wear. Interior pages exhibit age toning, scattered marks, and occasional handwritten technical notations. Staples remain present and the manual is readable. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition and contents. The decorative page holder shown in one photograph is not included. The exact manual pictured is the copy you will receive.
