Genre: Gunsmithing / Firearms Reference / Workshop Manual / Hunting & Shooting
Description:
A substantial illustrated gunsmithing reference assembled from the practical knowledge of working gunsmiths. Gunsmith Kinks II by F. R. “Bob” Brownell was edited and compiled by Frank Brownell and published by F. Brownell & Son in 1983.
This second volume collects hundreds of shop-developed techniques, solutions, diagrams, tips, and specialized procedures contributed by professional gunsmiths. Designed as a working reference rather than a conventional textbook, it preserves the kinds of practical methods often learned through years of hands-on experience.
Its extensive coverage includes gunstocks; actions, receivers, and barrels; scopes and sighting; metal polishing; bluing, browning, and plating; spring making and heat treating; drilling and tapping; private-label and cross-reference charts; tips for specific handguns, rifles, and shotguns; shop tools and techniques; business practices; hunting; and reloading. Numerous drawings, photographs, diagrams, and shop-made tool designs help explain the procedures discussed.
The publisher describes the volume as containing 702 separately titled entries and 306 drawings, photographs, and blueprints. The detailed index begins on page 473, with approximately 496 pages overall. A useful vintage reference for professional gunsmiths, firearm restorers, hobbyists, collectors, and anyone interested in traditional gunsmithing methods and workshop problem-solving.
Hardcover with original dust jacket. The black hardcover itself remains clean and solid with a firm binding and clean interior pages. No writing, highlighting, or ownership markings were observed. The dust jacket shows considerable age and handling wear, including creasing, rubbing, edge wear, tears, and small losses—most notably at the upper and lower spine ends—as clearly photographed. Despite the jacket wear, the underlying book is very well preserved and remains an excellent working reference. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition.
