Vintage British fly-fishing literature combining angling memoir, autobiography, travel, and reflections on trout fishing. This 1953 first edition will appeal to collectors of classic fishing books, Scottish angling history, and works connected with noted British angler and artist Bernard Venables. Moray McLaren recounts fishing experiences in Scotland, England, India, France, the Shetland Islands, and the Faroes, accompanied by illustrations by A. R. Sturrock. The front endpaper bears a green-ink signature identified in a contemporary pencil notation as that of Bernard Venables. Hardcover retains its original dust jacket. Binding remains intact. Heavy foxing and spotting are present on the endpapers, page edges, and intermittently throughout the interior. Prior ownership and bookseller notations appear on the front endpaper. Dust jacket has toning, soiling, rubbing, edge wear, small tears, and an old protective covering. Please review all photographs carefully for condition and signature details.
