Vintage British sporting memoir covering trout fishing, woodcock and grouse shooting, rural life, and the author’s First World War experiences in the Wiltshire Volunteers. An appealing copy for collectors of hunting, fishing, outdoor sporting history, and regional British literature, illustrated throughout by Algernon Thompson. Published in 1939 by B. Lansdown & Sons Ltd., this is the first edition and is inscribed “With the Author’s Compliments,” signed by T. P. Beaven, and dated October 1939. Includes the exceptionally scarce original illustrated dust jacket. The book has heavy foxing, particularly to the endpapers and page edges, with additional scattered foxing internally. The dust jacket is heavily worn and fragile with substantial paper loss, tears, creasing, fading, and edge damage. Boards show light age-related wear, and the binding remains intact. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition.
