Civil Engineering & Industrial History — An early, extensively illustrated technical study of retaining walls, coal and ore bins, grain storage structures, and grain elevators by Milo S. Ketchum, civil engineering professor and dean at the University of Colorado.

This is the scarce 1911 second edition, revised and enlarged, identified on the title page as the “First Thousand,” with a total issue of only 3,000 copies at that point. Contains hundreds of period diagrams, structural plans, formulas, tables, and detailed examples documenting early reinforced-concrete and industrial engineering practices.

Original green cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering. Formerly owned by Virginia mechanical engineer Harry Tyler Lewis Jr., whose name appears on the top page edge and whose professional engineer stamp appears on the front endpaper. Additional former-owner name and an old price notation are present.

The binding remains intact and the illustrated interior is generally clean and readable. Exterior shows age-related rubbing, scuffs, bumped corners, and heavier fraying with exposed board at several corners and spine ends. Pages show uniform age toning. No dust jacket. Please examine all photographs for exact condition.
