Certain Delightful English Towns: With Glimpses of the Pleasant Country Between by W. D. Howells. Published by Harper & Brothers in October 1906, this is the original first edition.

This illustrated travel narrative follows Howells through Plymouth, Exeter, Bath, Wells, Bristol, Oxford, Chester, Canterbury, and other historic English destinations. His observations capture the architecture, scenery, traditions, people, and everyday character of England during the early 20th century. The volume includes numerous black-and-white photographic illustrations, decorative gilt cover lettering, and a gilt top edge.

Overall in good antique condition. The green cloth covers retain attractive gilt and red decoration with mild rubbing, edge wear, and small worn areas at the corners and spine ends. The front interior binding is starting to weaken, with separation and binding material visible as shown, but the cover remains attached. Pages remain generally clean and readable with expected age toning and occasional minor marks. A few old pencil notations appear on the front endpaper. No dust jacket. Please review all photographs for the exact condition.
